This picture is of a raft that I built in 1986 using David's idea's as a
starting point. This raft is 8'x16' and is floated on a plastic foam billet that
is 10" thick and 8'x16'. The decking and sides are 1"x6" cedar and the little
shack was built from 1"x2" spruce and surfaced with polytarp. The whole affair
was very light about 300 pounds. It lasted many years and was strong enough to
stand up to a tornado that sunk many boats on our local lake. The only damage
was one of 4x4 corner bits lost about 1/2 of its diameter from the chafing that
it recieved in the storm. I had a 4 horse motor on the back and it would move
the raft nicely.
